Community – Thanksgiving Volunteering

November 2024 Newsletter
It’s Giving Season!

Over the past year or so, I’ve come to appreciate the power of community on a deeper level. Whether it’s through friends, family, coworkers, or the ladies from my workout class, I’ve realized just how meaningful these connections and our shared experiences are. There’s something truly magical that happens when we come together to support someone or something we care about.

The holidays tend to be a time of reflecting on the importance of giving back and being involved in our communities. Do you have any volunteer events you participate in every year or any coming up? I’d love to hear about them and maybe even join you! Word of mouth and sharing our experiences are powerful ways to make an impact.

A few volunteer opportunities on my radar include serving meals at The Road Home, delivering with Utah Crisis Food Response, packing meal kits with Thanksgiving Heroes, or donating and serving with the Food Justice Coalition.

Some of my favorite memories of community outreach have been the more spontaneous ones. A few times, a group of us has put together a Thanksgiving meal kit, then driven around and chosen a random house to deliver it to. People are usually a little startled when they open the door to a group of strangers, but every single time, they say, “How did you know?”. We always end up in the right place at the right time. I am so grateful I have gotten to hear these peoples’ stories, exchange hugs, and connect in a new way. Moments like these remind me of the incredible power we all carry. It doesn’t take much to make a difference—just a little time, love, and courage. The magic of coming together makes everything fall into place.
